Detroit Man Makes $15,000 Off Layne Staley’s Death

DETROIT (Wireless Flash) – Not everybody is weeping over Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley’s recent death – in fact, one Detroit man is actually making money off it. Last December, “Death Pool Dave,” a health researcher active in death pools – games where folks wager on which celebrity will kick the bucket next – picked Staley as the celebrity most likely to die in 2002. Now, his wager has paid off in spades. Death Pool Dave says no other death pool player picked Staley, which means he’ll net around $15,000. You might think prophesizing a death might be sobering, but Death Pool Dave doesn’t care, figuring Staley deserved what he got, since he “...threw it all away with drugs.”
