Goober Pyle Entertains Old Folks

FLORENCE, Ala. (Wireless Flash) – The Andy Griffith show might only exist in re-runs now, but one of its most beloved characters is still alive and making folks laugh – Goober Pyle. George Lindsey, the actor who played Goober, is currently touring in a stand-up comedy show where he dresses up in “the ol’ Goober clothes” and tries to bring down the house. Lindsey says senior citizens love it, especially in Florida and at Native American-run casinos. Lindsey admits people recognizing him as “ol’ Goob” used to drive him nuts, but now he says he loves it and even watches two episodes of the show every night before going to bed.
