From Hemlines to Line-Ups: Cosmo Editor Turns Detective Scribe
NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) The editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan magazine is trading hemlines for police line-ups by writing her first detective novel. But Kate White isnt straying too far from the fashion world with her book, If Looks Could Kill (Warner Books): Shes set the murder mystery at the offices of a posh womens magazine called Gloss. White says shes wanted to write a mystery ever since she read her first Nancy Drew novel, but it wasnt easy fitting it into her busy schedule as editor. In fact, she managed to squeeze in only one hour of writing a day because, in her words, Cosmo is a bear of a job. Still, Whites fashion background came in handy when clothing the characters in her book she just got the latest designer look books and picked out outfits. If Looks Could Kill hits bookstores May 3 and White is already at work on her second mystery, A Body To Die For.
