TV Network Goes All Pong All The Time

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – Think an all-weather TV channel is boring? How about a network that’s all Pong, all the time? Believe or not, G4, a new TV network devoted to computer games is debuting this week by showing nothing but Pong matches 24 hours a day. For those not in the know, Pong is a very primitive tennis-like videogame that made its debut in 1972 and jumpstarted the computer game industry. You might think “all-Pong, all the time” would be boring but G4 network CEO Charles Hirschhorn insists his network only shows exciting, top- quality Pong matches. Don’t worry. The Pongfest won’t last forever. On April 30, G4 switches to shows dedicated to videogames including news and sports competitions. However, Hirschhorn says the seven-day salute is a “tip of the hat” to the game that started it all.
