‘Space Food Sticks’ Returning to the U.S. After 20 Years

HOUSTON (Wireless Flash) – A spacey sounding snack bar called a “Space Food Stick” is about to make it’s re-entry in the United States after being in orbit for nearly 20 years. Space Food Sticks – described as a cross between a Tootsie Roll Bar and a Power Bar – hit the market in 1969 during the space race and became popular with kids, but were yanked off the U.S. market in the 1980s when popularity slumped. Now, they’re about to return to the States thanks to an all space- related website, thespacestore.com, which tracked down the world’s last manufacturer of Space Food Sticks in Australia. Thespacestore.com president Dayna Justiz says there’s still a big market for the sticks because her company receives a steady stream of requests from folks wondering if anyone still makes them.
