Video Game Freaks Desperate To Save Pasadena Arcade

PASADENA, Calif. (Wireless Flash) – Later this month, video game freaks from all over America will be converging on Pasadena, California, in hopes of saving a local arcade. The Pak Mann Arcade has been around for 20 years, but Pasadena politicians are currently trying to pull the plug on it, figuring the real estate would be more valuable if it were occupied by something else. That doesn’t score points with video game aficionados, hundreds of which are holding a protest rally May 18 as a video game vigil for the Pak Mann. Walter Day of the International Registry of Historic Video Game and Pinball Arcades says the Pak Mann Arcade has been a site of many world records and, as such, is a historical landmark. Arcade owner Eddy Hemaratanatorn won’t argue. He says he doesn’t understand why the city fathers want to shut down the place but hopes the vigil saves the Pak Mann for history.
