The Race is On for ‘Star Wars’-Inspired Sabers

MARQUETTE, Mich. (Wireless Flash) – It’s six days and counting until the opening day for Star Wars: Episode II – Attack Of the Clones – and some fans are preparing by purchasing their own lightsabers. That’s according to Michigan-based inventor Rick Todish, who has created a “Plasma Saber” that resembles the Jedi weapons used in George Lucas’ flicks – including a light beam that extends upward when the device is turned on and whooshing noises which sound whenever the blade swings. He says his phone is ringing off the hook with calls from Star Wars fans who want a saber NOW so they can bring it with them to the theater when Episode II opens May 16. Despite the Plasma Saber’s $590 price tag, Todish expects he’ll be working around the clock to fill orders from now until the movie’s release.
