U.S. Soldier: ‘Creed Got Me Through Operation Anaconda’

FT. STUART, Ga. (Wireless Flash) – One U.S. Army First Lieutenant claims she wouldn’t have survived Operation Anaconda if it wasn’t for Creed. The lieutenant prefers to go by her first name, Laurie, and details her army experience in a new VH1 series, Military Diaries, that debuts May 27. “Lieutenant Laurie” says Creed’s song “One Last Breath” gave her the strength and energy needed to fight Al Qaeda troops. She says the song became her anthem, and lyrics like hold me now, I’m six feet from the edge kept up her spirits while she saw demoralizing things such as soldiers she knew dying. On the lighter side, though, she says some of her comrades goofed around during downtime by walking arm-in-arm and trilling James Taylor tunes together.
