Britney Spears Isn’t ‘Simply Irresistible’ To Robert Palmer

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – Britney Spears sings “Simply Irresistible” in a new Pepsi commercial but, so far, the man who wrote the song has simply resisted watching it. Robert Palmer, who hit No. 2 in 1988 with the song, has been able to resist seeing Spears sing his song because the ad hasn’t yet appeared on TV where he lives in Switzerland. However, he’s glad she recorded the tune and proud Pepsi chose “Simply Irresistible” for Spears’ campaign because, in his words, “...it’s the only one in the campaign that didn’t start as a jingle.” Although Palmer hasn’t seen how Britney looks in his trademark tuxedo, he hopes she looks as good as Shania Twain did in “Man, I Feel Like A Woman,” which spoofed his video for “Simply Irresistible.” However, Palmer is too busy promoting his new greatest hits package, Best Of Both Worlds: The Robert Palmer Anthology (1974-2001), and his latest CD, Drive, to see the commercial anytime soon.
