Clint Eastwood’s Stunt Double Finds Reporters Scarier Than Stunts

TOLUCA LAKE, Calif. (Wireless Flash) – Clint Eastwood’s stunt double has braved flaming logs and stampeding horses, but there’s one thing that still scares him: Reporters. After 50 years in Hollywood, Buddy Van Horn is getting a lifetime achievement award from the World Stunt Academy – and he says this is the first time he’s had to make speeches or talk to reporters. That might not seem like much compared to doing saddle falls from a running horse, but Van Horn says his stunts were “a lot easier” than being in the media spotlight. Van Horn, who spent 20 years doubling Eastwood in movies like Dirty Harry, says things have wound down for him in recent years. “I’m just sitting in my rocker watching reruns of Baywatch,” jokes the 74 year old. You can see Van Horn, Jackie Chan and Pearl Harbor director Michael Bay receive awards on the World Stunt Awards May 31 on ABC.
