San Francisco Musicians Making ‘Rover R&B’

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash) – Two musicians in San Francisco are hoping to reach the “top of the barks” with a new album of music for pooches. Brad James and Steven Shapiro’s CD, It’s A Dog’s Life, contains 13 tracks about what it’s like to be a dog, punctuated with barks, howls and other sounds that are supposed to get Rover’s ears perking. It may work. James claims dogs who listen to the tracks respond by barking, howling or running over to the stereo speaker. James – who sells real estate when he’s not making rover R&B – came up with the Lassie-oriented lyrics by “thinking like a dog,” yielding songs like the show-tuney “Riding in the Car,” the bowser blues anthem “Bad, Bad Dog,” and a rover rap titled “Who Let the Dog In?” The CD is currently available in a few San Francisco-area pet shops and online at worldssmartestdog.com.
