Audience Screens Levy-Like TV Pilot

Audience Screens Levy-Like TV Pilot

SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash) – Talk about bad timing: On the very day Chandra Levy’s body was found, a New York-based marketing company asked a San Diego test audience to screen a TV pilot featuring a Levy-like plot line. The pilot, The First Gentleman, stars Kevin Dunn from Bette Midler’s short-lived sitcom, Bette, as the husband of the first female president. During the show, Dunn’s character rescues a pretty female congressional assistant being manhandled by her Gary Condit-like boss. The plot rang a little too true for some members of Wednesday’s test audience, who cringed in horror when the young woman turned up dead later in the show. One screener even called the storyline “offensive” on her comment card. However, it’s unlikely the ill-timed screening will affect the future of The First Gentleman since the show aired last year on CBS and was canceled after just one episode.
