White Stripes Mystery Solved

White Stripes Mystery Solved

CHICAGO (Wireless Flash) – The White Stripes mystery has officially been solved – they’re not really brother and sister, they’re ex-spouses. The Chicago-based music website GloriousNoise.com has posted a copy of Jack and Meg White’s Sept 4, 1996 marriage license, which editor Jake Brown says he got from Detroit’s county clerk’s office. The license also reveals that Jack used to be known as John Anthony Gillis and took Meg’s last name, though Brown doesn’t think it’s an example of them being a modern couple, stating: “They were 21 years old. 21-year-olds do silly things.” Brown says next he plans to post the Whites’ divorce certificate, just in time for the band’s June 6 appearance on the MTV Movie Awards.
