Activist Group Says ‘Not In A Box And Not With A Fox’ To Dr. Seuss Memorial

WASHINGTON (Wireless Flash) – An anti-government waste group says a new Dr. Seuss National Memorial in Springfield, Massachusetts, is full of “Green Eggs and Pork.” The memorial is a bronze sculpture garden containing statues of Dr. Seuss and his famous characters, like Horton the Elephant, Yertle the Turtle and Thidwick the Moose. But the Washington-based Citizens Against Government Waste is saying “shame, shame” to the park, claiming Massachusetts’ Congress paid for the Seuss statues using $950,000 that was earmarked for poor communities. David Williams, a spokesman for the CAGW, says the money could have been used for needy folks and calls the deal “closed door” politics. Realistically though, Williams says “It’s probably too late to do anything about it now, but the next best thing is to complain about it, which is what we’re good at.”
