Drinking Olympics 2002: The Yuppies Vs. The Punks

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash) – Next month, San Francisco will host a very special athletic competition where the contestants train by hitting the bars instead of hitting the gym. It’s called the Marina Yuppies vs. Mission Punks Drinking Olympics 2002, and it pits the two diametrically-opposed cultures against each other over kegs of beer. 25-year-old organizer Al Cummings says the yuppies and punks will compete to see which group can drain a keg the quickest and individuals will face off to find who can guzzle bottles of Zima and 40 ounce bottles of malt liquor the fastest. Contestants will also chug a drink called a “jangle” which Cummings says is three-fourths Olde English 800 beer and one-fourth grape soda. The July 13 drinking binge won’t be pure decadence, says Cummings, who plans to turn the event into a fundraiser for some needy cause.
