Tribute to the Sagacious
The following is my tribute to people who have helped or challenged my thinking. I really can't repay any of you,
however, I wanted to say thank you to:
- The Tao - Cool stuff. Don't believe me? Read Stephen Mitchell's or Jane English's translation of the Tao Te Ching.
- Whoever discovered meditation -- you really knew what you were doing.
- My Father - Dad, we both know you are not a scholar or an educated man, however, I just wanted to thank you
for giving me the ability to think for myself. My father occasionally comes up with pansophic zingers that simply leaves your mouth open. Where he
gets it from, I don't know.
- Robert Schein (my deceased grandfather) - You were definitely at the forefront of seminal thinkers. You epitomized the
the phrase "the life of the party." Your fun loving zany exuberance and voluptuousness were infectious. You were one for the ages, I miss you, and as I am getting older I think about you more and more.
- Jerry McSilvers - My former Psychology College Professor. Thanks for opening up to me the world of Psychology. You have definitely
broadened my horizons and thinking.
- Mike and Monica Sullivan - When it comes to belief systems or world views, we are about as opposite as you can get, however,
both of you possess great minds. Every time I meet with Mike & Monica, I end up running for a dictionary to look up some word they used or a book I was not aware of beforehand.
Mike, you pooh pooh yourself too much, you
say you are not a scholar, I disagree, I think you are a first rate scholar. Monica, you're not an intellectual lightweight either, you are the literature guru. As Wayne and Garth (of "Wayne's World")
would say, "I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy."
- Jay Connell - My sixth grade teacher. You were the first person to challenge me to believe in myself. I wish I knew where you are now.
- Rich Geib - You are brilliant, you may be the most well read person
I have come across.
- Randall Albright - We've dialogued a couple of times via the 'Net, you have challenged my thinking in some areas and you have offered some fresh
insight.
- My Enemies - Thank you for all the lessons you've taught me about myself and human nature as well, but remember, he who laughs last laughs loudest. "Rejoice not my enemy though I may have fallen I will arise again and not fall for you have awakened a sleeping giant."
Thanks to all of you!
