Joseph III Cheuvront, (s/o Aaron Cheuvront and Sarah Richards) born in Harrison County, Virginia, 1809, m Nov. 1, 1832, OH, Hannah McInnis Rouse.  JosephIII was presumed dead when he disappeared on a trip to Kansas around 1857 or '58 and was never seen again.  There is a  letter to Lois (d/o R.Franklin Cheuvront aunt of Diane Cheuvront Barr, .from Vinton Cheuvront--s/o Fredrick Clifton, s/o Lemuel Green 2 Cheuvront--mentioning this event.  This note corroborates information from the 1860 census for Jackson Co VA, in which JosephIII's wife Hanna Rouse is listed as a widow.

Dear Lois, (Lois was the daughter of R.Franklin Cheuvront. She was my aunt.)

Your mother’s book of poems is a precious gift .  Poetry, verse, or prose, if written by persons of dignity and perception, have from boyhood been my solace; a discipline for directing mind and character, and last but not least, some appreciation of the melody we call life.
As a youngster I remember Aunt Lillie as a happy, comfortable, bright, and darkly handsome woman dedicated to her family.  After reading her beautiful lines I regret in my later life we had no contact in person.
Our parents, however, have left us an inheritance of great affection for our kin which neither distance or man can sever.
I am enclosing the negative for you to copy, the registration of Joseph (1) birth book, and a line tree of our family for your own up-dating.  I developed this from to compensate for the repetition of given names, different generations.
 (over)
You will note, dear cousin, that our grandfather’s name was Lemuel Green 2, and that his father Joseph (3) had a brother named Lemuel Green (1). Joseph (3) and Lemuel(1) married two sisters, Hannah and Mary Rouse.  Our great-grand father disappeared (J3), in the time shortly before the Civil War emagrate west.  I am researching a faint clue that some sickness or injury left him an amnesia victim in north eastern Kansas, a route followed by his brother Lemuel(1) before him into Nebraska.
Please give my love to all of your family.  I will treasure your gift forever. I particularly today am fond of “Quaint Joy, In the Gloaming and April showers”

Sincerely,
    Vint
