We were all down to the Carbonear Folk Festival last year: taking in some good Irish and Newfoundland Music and having a few sips. The headliner for the night was The Mahones, one of the best Irish bands around with some wicked songs. After the show some of the big shots around town along with some radio contest winners got to go backstage for a free party and meet the bands - a place we'd love to get but it was fenced off. It was getting near the end of The Mahones last set and Chris comes up with a great idea - he always does. The gate leading backstage was locked and there was nobody around. So he went over and stood up by it and started acting like he belonged there. Not long after some big security guy comes over and unlocks the gate and starts letting people in. Him and Chris started chatting away. So a few minutes later a couple of us goes over to try our luck but the security guy puts out his arm and stops us. Then Chris waves to him and says that we're OK too and he let us in. So little by little we all did the same thing and got backstage, hanging with The Mahones and the other bands. Pretty soon Chris leaves his post and joins us and we were set for the night. We kept a low profile; just drinking and eating everything in sight but not making a racket. We didn't want to push our luck.
