Wired

Wired

A couple of summers ago our friend Paul broke his jaw playing softball. He had to have it wired shut for 6 weeks. He could only eat certain foods, he had to drink with a straw - but the biggest inconvenience was he wasn't allowed to drink alcohol. The doctor said that, since he couldn't open his mouth, if he puked he could choke. He was going to miss most of the summer drinking season. So for a couple of weeks we had a big laugh at his expense; drinking and partying while he looked on - sober. Anyway one night while we were having a few, Paul showed up with a case of beer, took out a straw and started drinking. We told him he was taking a big chance, what if he got sick. Then he reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of pliers. Through his clenched teeth he said if he felt sick he was going to take out the pliers and pull the wires off his teeth. Now there's a dedicated drinker.
