Bowie created a lovely song about a self-destructive alien who becomes a rockstar, and ends up not being able to handle it. I have a Ziggy page that'll tell ya more about him. :)
This character's name was Ziggy Stardust, and it's featured on the album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars
Bowie would escape into Ziggy on (and sometimes off) stage.
Being Ziggy allowed Bowie to be someone else on stage (something he always did, and still does)
Aladdin Sane (aka A Lad Insane) is another one of Bowie's stage personas. the question should be, "Who will love A Lad Insane?"
Aladdin came after Ziggy, and Aladdin is more... "Buddha-ish."
The character, Aladdin Sane, comes from the song (Aladdin Sane), featured on the ablum titled (can you guess?)... Aladdin Sane
Being Ziggy gave Bowie major schizophrenia.
Was he Ziggy or David?
Bowie knows a lot more about escape now, and realizes that he's an artist named David Bowie who ocassionally slips into other characters.

still don't get it?
