Guild Rules

I. Roleplaying Guidelines

Stay in Character all the time:
Our goal is to be "in character" (IC) all the time! If you are logging on to Ultima Online with your character, you are a memer of the Council. You think, act and talk like your character would. Britannia is reality for you, you don't know that it is "just a game". You don't talk about game mechanics or real life matters ingame - this should be kept strictly to ICQ.

Don't use ICQ as an IC Communication tool:
Any information received from ICQ should be kept OOC, in other words, your character should not know information gained from ICQ. Some people try to explain ICQ as messenger pigeons or other creatures. The idea of a super fast pigeon traveling at the speed of light across Britannia breaks the fiction that we are trying to create. There are plenty of in-game methods which we can use, such as communication crystals.

Although you can use ICQ for setting up events, or when something bad happened, like you died and can't get ressurected, you need help fighting a PK, you want to call the guild together for a hunt or an other event. For those things it is ok to use icq. Don't abuse it.

Your character cannot see guild titles:
Your characters cannot see the floating guild title above another characters head, so please do not refer to it. A guild titles exist to give you an idea with whom you are dealing - i.e. Elves, Drow, Orcs, a merchant or a Lord. Your roleplaying should always be determined first by other character's actions, then by the title you see. Also do not differentiate between "blue" and "orange" players.

Separate IC and OOC:
This is the most important guideline to follow, and is one of the basic concepts of roleplaying. You the player and your character are separate entities. Your character does not know everything that you do. If you are upset with another player OOC, please do not allow it to affect the way your characters act in-game - and vice versa.
Always respect the player of a character. Even if their evil character is being very evil and the player of that character is making various insults about you as a player. When dealing with non-roleplayers, please do not degrade them for their style of play, especially newbies. Go out of character for a bit to help them. Even if they're being complete and utter pains in the arse, just smile and nod. You have an ignore button for a reason.

II. Rules of Engagement

  1. Absolutely do not yell "cease" to stop a fight your involved in. You're in Trammel, there's no reason for it. Unless your house in real life just combusted into flames, you might get away with it once or twice.
  2. Don't Loot any other player
  3. If you die, keep your death robe on and walk away unarmed and silently (no talking!). The most you should speak is congratulating your opponent on a good fight. Then leave, and don't join the same fight or plot until it is over, regarless how long it takes (doesn't apply for plots that go over days and weeks)
  4. Players can not be forced to engage in player vs. player combat. If the victim refuses player vs. player combat, the aggressor may chose a reasonable alternative, possible examples include (but are not limited to)
    • demanding reasonable tribute or ransom from the victim
    • taking the victim prisoner
    • chasing the victim away, but then the victim must leave the area, running away crying for "Help!", begging for mercy or showing a similar appropiate "in-character"-reaction, and is not allowed to take part in the battle any further, be it passively or actively.
  5. There will be no fighting at Shops, Banks, Moongates or other public Places.
  6. If you attack someone there should be interaction first. You don't attack anyone without a reason. Get the other person a chance to know what is happening (i.e. yell "Have at thee!") and make sure you don't attack logged out characters.
  7. Keep your Guild title visible to others when you attack to avoid confusion and trouble.

III. Staying a Member of the Council

There will be no guild jumping. If you officially leave the guild you need to wait 60 days to be allowed to join again. Aditionally the council will review the reasons why you left and why you want to come back. If there is nothing wrong with them you will be welcomed back.

To officially leave the guild, with being able to return, you need to leave a message (via icq or on a board) with a reason for your leave.

If you leave the guild without notice, you might be welcomed back or not after 60 days, but then your request can be denied by the council without any particular reason.

Anyone who is off the stone and hasn't contacted me within one week about the reason for it, will be considered out of the guild (you can always talk to me if you think I made a mistake). Valid reasons for leaving the stone are when you die and can't be ressed otherwise, or when leaving to guild is needed for certain roleplaying plots.

Anyone who doesn't show up ingame for 1 month without giving me any excuse or reason (via icq or a board) will get thrown off the stone.

IV. How to get booted from the guild

Killing other players without purpose other than getting their loot (PKing) will get you kicked out of the guild immediately.

Breaking the guild's trust by stealing from it, scamming members, etc. will get you off the stone immediately.

personal attacks that have nothing to do with a topic on persons (aka flaming) via icq or on the boards will be tolerated one time, when you apologize to the person you insulted in the following two days. You are out of the guild at the second offense. You should represent the guild appropriate ingame by your best roleplaying and out of game by mature manners. Having another opinion is NOT a flame.

Intentinally not roleplaying and excessive OOC will get you a warning, when I know you can do better.

V. Complaints, Problems

A simple rules, don't fight it out ingame or over icq. If somebody has a complaint with your roleplaying or the guild, tell them to tell their Guildmaster, who should contact me (Eylana) then.

If you have a complaint about other guilds or players, contact me (Eylana).

If you have an OOC problem with another member you should also talk to me via icq (Eylana). I might also consult on certain OOC matters with other members via icq, especially when I have to deal with offenses than affect people's status in the guild.
