I began reading fanfiction based on the TV show "The
Sentinel" in about June of 1998. After joining SenAD and SXF, I
decided to try my hand at the genre, posting my first story on my birthday
that summer as a present to myself.
It was a thrill to be able to return to writing again after so many
years. I hadn't written any fiction since the late '70s, and frankly I had
missed it.
The sub-genre of fanfiction I've indulged in is called
"slash," although my version of slash is fairly tame. There are
certain TV shows and/or characters which seem to invite the 'slash'
perspective -- TV shows in which there seem to be varying degrees of
homoerotic subtext. Some shows, such as "Xena: Warrior
Princess," play up the subtext to the point of practically becoming
'text,' while other shows provide the subtext 'incidentally.'
As a result, some fanfic writers have chosen to create stories in which
the subtext does become text. This type of fiction became known as 'slash'
in the '70s, when writers paired up Star Trek's Kirk and Spock -- the
shorthand for the pairing being Kirk/Spock (Kirk slash Spock) or K/S.
Nowadays there are probably thousands of websites devoted to fanfiction
of all kinds and from many fandoms, and there are hundreds devoted to
slashfic from as many fandoms. You can take a look at the many offerings
by checking out K.
Nicholas' site.
Warning:
Since slash fiction is considered to have controversial content, I
advise those who are under 18 and those who neither approve of writers
writing nor wish yourself to be reading love stories about pairs of men --
to please refrain from reading my stories. Instead, I recommend checking
out some non-slash fiction at Nicholas'
site
That said -- On to the stories!

Rated PG. (This piece is influenced by other fanfiction and the
first and second season of the show.)

1998. Rated PG. (This piece takes place in the time frame of
"Flight," the second season premiere of the show.)

1999. Rated PG.
Originally written as a daily serial on SENAD between November 16,
1998 and January 17, 1999; then archived on The Sentinel Adult Archive on
April 4, 1999. Ratings for the individual snippets range from PG to R. I
give this an overall rating of PG13. (To place this in context, you
can assume that all canon events up until late season three's
"Foreign Exchange" occurred before the timeline of this story.
However, "Night Shift" and "Sentinel Too" never took
place.)
Since this piece is long, I've divided it into 24 parts:
Ziggy's Dilemma
(54k) Originally posted October 24, 1999. Rated PG.
I got this idea from discussions on Senad, in which people
speculated about the nameless nurse who faxed Blair Jim Ellison's medical
records. If not for her, the guys would never have met. This is one answer
to the question "Who was she?"
(90k) This piece, co-authored with Alyjude, was originally posted on
October 31, 1999. Rated R. Our story takes place a few weeks after
the events of "Sentinel Too, Part Two."
Summary: While on a case, our heroes find themselves facing the
elements, the past, a wild beast, and each other.
As a denizen of the discussion list SENAD, I found myself in the
position of needing to write a Sentinel snippet, to make up for an
off-topic post (such is the list's convention). I've decided to post a few
of them here. They are brief vignettes, textual snapshots, all rated PG.

I've been greatly affected by some events in the
series finale -- "The Sentinel by Blair Sandburg." Here
are some snippets that came out of my thoughts on that episode:

Well, here's your chance to get quilted, cotton zine covers. Many fabrics are available, including wolf, panther, and forest themes. Occasionally, I place items up for auction at auctionfen.com, a place for buying and selling fandom-oriented items.
