My
Christian Testimony By
Tammy Lynn Jessup Our
Pastor says that each Christian has a special testimony about meeting
Jesus. I believe that this is the best witness we can give and I would
like to share mine with all of you. 4
years ago I was walking the streets in despair and hopelessness, desperately
clinging to a lifestyle that only the devil could live. I was a prostitute
on a street corner. Every night my life was in danger, I am lucky to
be alive today to tell this story and give my witness for Jesus. My
life was full of shame and sin. In addition to that, I am older, and
the older girls are treated much worse, we make less money and have
to get more "dates" to make ends meet. I wanted to kill myself. One
night I was walking the street looking for some old customers, hoping
that one of them might drive by and pick me up. That night, because of
my drinking binge the night before, I was especially broke. I had been
standing outside for about 2 hours with no "bites" when a man driving
one of those nice sports cars pulled up beside me. Now I was surprised,
because it is usually the younger working girls that gets the "rich"
dates, so immediately I thought it was a cop. He rolled down his window
and asked me what time it was. Of course I thought that this was a strange
thing to ask, and I was not wearing a watch anyhow. He smiled at me
and asked me if I wanted a ride. I looked at him, asked him if he was
a cop, he smiled and said no. Well, the short of the long is that I
was desperate to get a date, so I went ahead and got in the car with
him. He
looked pretty normal, business man type, sort of. He told me he had
a room over at the Super 8, he gave me my money plus an additional $20
bucks, but the real blessing came later on. When
we got to the hotel room, He started to talk to me about church and
religion. I laughed at him. I said," I bet you are one of those guys
that loves us working girls on the side but sit next to your wife in
church." He laughed and said, "Actually, I am a Christian minister,
and my ministry is for the prostitutes, like Jesus was for Mary Magdalene."
I remembered the story of Mary Magdalene from Sunday school when I was
a kid. She was a follower of Jesus. I asked him why he does this and
what he wanted from me, suspicious like of course. He said that it was
his calling from Jesus and that he wanted to help me escape from the
life of sin and sadness that I was living. I knew right then that I
needed Jesus. I started crying and asked this preacher to help me to
accept Jesus into my heart. He gave me a hug and told me to lie down
on the bed, on my stomach and then he parted my legs a bit. He pulled
his trousers down to expose himself and entered me from behind. It was
over in about 30 seconds. I got up from the bed and pulled up my stockings
and straightened my dress. He then asked me to kneel with him and pray
for Jesus to forgive my sins. I did just that and accepted Jesus into
my heart that night in the Super 8. He
gave me his card and asked me to come to his church that week. I said,
"Pastor, are you sure you want a working girl like me to come to
your church?" He told me that Jesus wanted me to come and so did
he. The next Sunday I went, and the Christians there showed me so much
the love of God. Jesus totally changed my life. I still attend this
little church. Like I said before, my Pastor is right, every Christian
has a unique testimony and I hope that mine will help to bring others
to Christ. Today,
the Lord has really blessed my life. I'm off the streets, have a nice
double-wide home and both my ministry and business are doing great.
I have had the honor of servicing some of the finest Ministers and Pastors
in the South! Praise Jesus for his great mercy and blessings!
