Welcome to

DIRTY ANGELS

.

It all started when I ran the Denver Anime International newsletter, DAI-gest....

By the second issue, I decided to come up with a comic strip to do some commentary and provide a few laughs. My favorite anime show at the time was Dirty Pair (still in my top 5), whose main characters' real code name was the Lovely Angels. Splicing these two names together created the name of the strip and a means to identify the lead characters. After a while, the characters grew beyond just an excuse to draw SD (Super-Deformed) Dirty Pair, even after I added a Ranma-chan clone named Stevie. The girls started popping up in filler art, extended comics, and even did an 'info-comic'. I ran the strip until I stopped doing the newsletter (read: burnout) over three years later. But the girls still lived in my brain for quite a while, which is why I revived them for 'Otaku Rhapsody'.

These are the old strips that ran in DAI-gest from the beginning onward. I have not touched the artwork, outside of redoing the lettering as to try to make it more readable, so trust me, I'm the one wincing the most. But I hope it is a memorable trip for older DAI members or for new readers wanting to see the evolution.

Oh... Stevie? I have no plans of bringing her back as of yet... but stay 'tooned . ^_^
