The Lulabelles have been around for quite some time now, but most of you might still know them as the Spoilers. There already were a couple of bands with that name though and they decided to change it. So here's the new and improved Lulabelles introducing themselves through Marjolijn. (vocals/guitar)

* When did the Lulabelles start?
We started as the Spoilers in December 1998 and went on as the Lulabelles in September 2000.

* How did you get together?
We didn't know each other at all, but we were all talking about starting a band only separately. So through mutual friends we got in touch with each other and started the spoilers without knowing each other very well. We didn't know Joke at all. The only thing we new from her, was that she is the girlfriend of the guitarpleyer of beyond lickin' and that she has a child. But she is really sweet. We had to grow into being a band, we did and now we are!

* You were first known as the Spoilers. Why did you change your name?
Because we changed bandmembers in the past 2 years. First of all our first drummer quit the band, which meant that we needed a new one. Aart from Face tomorrow helped us out and drummed for almost a year. Since July Joke is our new drummer and she is the best! Then our former bassplayer left the band, so Lizeline, who used to sing in the Spoilers, learned to play bass. Now I'm (Marjolijn) doing the vocals and playing guitar together with Anne, who is also doing the backing vocals.

* What do you want to achieve with the band?
Not much, we just like playing in a band and having fun. If something will happen one day, that would be great.

* What do you think of the position girls have in the hardcore/punk scene?
Women are of minor importance in the Hardcore/Punk scene, and that's a real shame. If you, being a woman, want to play in a hc/p band, you're gonna be laughed at in advance and you're gonna have to prove yourself to the entire scene. I think that's a real pity, because women really can have a good band. But why people come to our shows is their own business. As long as we like our show and think we are up to it. I don't care if someone only like us because we're girls, it's their problem.

* Who are you biggest influences?
Lookout bands, Moaw, New Bomb Turks etc.

* How is your new drummer working out?
She's doing great and she is the best we have ever had, she's really rock'n'roll!!

* Is it harder or less hard to be in a punkrockband when you're a girl?
There's two sides to this question. On one hand it's hard being accepted because people have a lot of prejudices about female bands. On the other side it's easier, because all we have to do is put on a little skirt and people will love it. But every band has to deal with his own problems, either a girl or a guy band. Being in a girlband also has its positive sides.

* How did you get in touch with punkrock and why do you like it so much?
Just by going to gigs and listening to other people's music. I like it because it's melodious.

* What was the coolest gig you did so far?
That was in "het Poortgebouw" in Rotterdam, because the audience loved our music (that's what they told us) and not because we were girls. And it was our first gig in this formation.

* You're playing with the Donna's in a couple of months right? Dream come true?
Yes, we are playing with the Donnas which is really great but also really scary. But we are gonna kick some ass together with the Riplets.

* What futureplans do you have with the Lulabelles?
Making a lot of new songs, doing a lot of gigs, recording a demo if possible.
