We are experiencing operating difficulties. Please stand by. |
Thursday, February 25, 1999 In Which I Purchase a Phone Okay, obviously my end-of-the-week track record can stand some improvement. This entry is really late, again, and Friday's entry isn't going to show up until Saturday night. Sorry about that. Briefly, then: I made a couple of really minor changes on the art homework (actually just reversing two changes I'd made earlier), and brought it in to class, where it was deemed to be pretty successful. Next week's assignment is "dance." We're to use black, white, and one other color. I have no idea how I'm going to approach that one. Yet.
I got a new phone! See, my old one was really bad. I'd gotten it at a school bazaar a few years back. Among its problems were the lack of useable "star" and "pound" buttons (they functioned only as "store" and "redial"), and the fact that people could hardly hear a word I was saying, and vice-versa. The final straw came this week, when the phone stopped ringing. I found out people were calling me when the answering machine kicked in. So enough was enough. I went down to the discount store with the great selection of teas, which also sells lots of other stuff, and found the phone department. There I saw a dizzying array of phones of all sorts to choose from. How could I decide? Being an American consumer, there was only one choice: I went with the cheapest one I could find that had a brand name I recognized. In this case, $14.95, and AT&T. The one catch was that when I got home and opened the box, I realized that I had neglected to notice the color of the phone, which was printed on the box. Hunter Green. Remember how I feel about green? I hope Heather's enjoying this. :-)
