the official bio of tyreah james of three ton gate and The spooky chics
this is her story:
Tyreah James was born April 27, 1969 in Tiffin, Ohio and soon thereafter came to South Florida with her family who still reside here today. At the ripe old age of 5 years old, Tyreah memorized every lyric to every song on the Beatle's Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band record and has not stopped singing ever thereafter...
Her first band in High School was "Black Widow" , former members include the fallen members Lance Feign- drums- Lance was shot and murdered by a schoolmate the same year he joined the band & Steve Miske- guitars-{ Steve Miske passed 2 years ago from complications of the liver due to excessive consumption }...
Tyreah
spiralled into an Abyss of darkness and withdrew with her music for
a few years to follow
Music
became the only escape for Tyreah and without it, she is not sure she would
be alive today...
She reemmerged on the scene in 1989 - 1991 and began writing lyrics and assisting production for Swedish guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen on the "Eclipse" sessions , but the alliance fell apart over disputes concerning song writing credits.
Tyreah
picked up the pieces and moved on. In 1992 she formed Ritual Musick with
Mikael D' Angelo (formerly of the Hardcore band Pit Bully). Ritual
Musick was a very dark and nefarious project that conveyed the Doom and
Gloom she has experienced on a personal level after enduring a series of
very tragic circumstances ..Ritual Musick has no recorded material and
disbanded over creative/magickal differences...
Tyreah soon met guitar player Stephen Guiffranti of a Glam Rock Hair Spray band called Terra Plane , whom had a degree of success locally a few years earlier. Their mutual respect of Jimmy Page was a deciding factor in the vocal/guitar recordings that would follow .. There were only 2 songs recorded from the collaboration, but it was clear after the playbacks of "Ritual of Midnight* and "Star" that Tyreah had something different... something unexplainable...
The
songs are both light and dark; The Yin and Yang principle of perfect equilibrium
musically. She flies with the angels, she dances with the devil,
weaving her spell on you...
She played these demo tapes for Scott Putesky ( Daisy Berkowitz) who had just finished his final project with Marilyn Manson and soon began rehearsing vocals for Scott's "Three Ton Gate" project.
Scott and Tyreah recorded her vocals for Three Ton Gate in only 4 evenings at 3 hours per song. She was never satisfied with the production work of Nathaniel Seidman on the disc and 2 of her tracks (" Honor & Hollywood's Heaven") were omitted and Scott's original versions were used instead....
It is said she actually cried during the playback of the Masters... she felt so much of her performance seemed to have been lost in the recording process & final mix...The CD "Vanishing Century" was ready for distribution in October of 1997, however copies were actually available the following year , February 1998, AVAILABLE ONLY BY THE INTERNET!
The
last I have heard, the disc is sold out, so if you have one, you may want
to hold onto it... i.e. there will be no further pressings of the Vanishing
Century CD.
Also, Tyreah is looking for her original recordings Of" Honor" and "Hollywood's Heaven", which are floating out there somewhere.
Scott sent out this original version of Vanishing Century on tape only to many frineds and record labels , so they are out there somewhere... Tyreah's copies were stolen from her home by an overzealous fan.. if you know how she can get a copy of her own material please email her from the link on the index page...
Tyreah is writing new material and recording trax for her new project.. The material is a Doom and Gloom Guitar and Keys project with elements of electronica and vocal infusion... The Sound Files will be here as soon as we get them published and protected on a sound files page accessed from the main page...
