TRL Under Fire After Fans Speak Truthfully
NEW YORK CITY– MTV's popular music video showcase program Total Request Live (TRL) is under attack for allowing fans to speak truthfully.
While a video is shown, a small picture-in-a-picture often appears.  This superimposed shot enables fans to express why they wish to see the video being shown.  Usually those on camera simply say that they find the singer or group attractive or entertaining, but on Friday's program a plague of honesty swept down upon the show.
“I requested the Backstreet Boys' ‘The Call’ because Kevin is so hot,” was one female fan's unsurprising statement.  But she continued, “And I want him to stick his penis in my mouth, all the way into my throat, so that I gag.”
Host Carson Daly apologized for the remarks, and others that preceded it, like one from a male Destiny's Child fan.
“I requested Destiny's Child because Beyonce [Knowles] is really fine,” the fan said.  “She's so hot she's practically white.”
The show continued despite the shocking remarks.  Perhaps most stunning of all was a male's comments on Britney Spears.
“I requested Britney's ‘Don't Let Me Be The Last to Know’ because she's the hottest singer out there,” he said.  “I want to murder her, bury her body, let it rot for two weeks, exhume her corpse, and commit necro-rape.  Wooooo!”
MTV has issued a statement apologizing for the outbursts and promising more stringent screening of fans.  Many groups and government officials seeking to censor offensive television have expressed their disapproval of Friday's program.
“This type of television is inappropriate for those watching in the afternoon,“ said Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.).  “Despite the apparent whiteness of Knowles, it is unacceptable to discuss it at four in the afternoon.”
