This was what they released in between It's Gonna Be Maaaay and This I Promise You in Europe. I don't know why.
They were too lazy to make a real video. So they hired some teenies and raided Steve's Video Vault and this is what they came up with.
It's a series of shots of teenies lounging in their boudoirs, lip-syncing to this song as they watch NSYNC videos, fool around with make-up, sit fetchingly on their beds, etc, etc. My friend Luke was watching this and almost had a heart attack when he figured out who it was.
"DUDE! That's- that's NSYNC!"
I ashamedly admitted that I knew that.
"No, no. That's just not right. Don't they spend all their time trying to make us believe that they aren't targetting dumb teenies as their audience?"
I was rather struck by this. He's right, of course. This video is the visual version of JC claiming to do nothing on stage he wouldn't feel comfortable doing in front of his parents. A classic 'do as I say, not as I do' scenario. Sure, they'd like us to believe they like their adult fans, all three of them, but when it comes down to the wire, they're damn well making videos not only for, but even about their core audience.
Today's letter is H and today's word is hypocrisy.
Cut through the teenies is footage of them being stupid. There's no clear theme to this material. They get roughly equal time, except for the ten seconds that are devoted to Joe spinning around in his harness-thingy on the last tour. It's cut very quickly. I have the attention span of a kumquat, and I like this speed, though, so it's cool with me.
Some highlights:
I quite like this song. The video is something of a cop out, however.
Homoeroticism rating: 4 out of 10
That is all.
