REMOTELY-HOSTED RESOURCES
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By now, just about all list subscribers have a home page at
InternetTrash, and most have done it without problems.
There isn't much more to be said about InternetTrash, so the
remainder of the tutorial will focus mainly on aspects of
web site creation that are independent of InternetTrash or
any other web space provider.
What we are talking about here are scripts and programs that
offer your visitors
* Interaction
The ability to respond to your site
* Collaboration
The ability to add information, ideas, and cooperation
to your site
Very few web space providers allow you to use your own
scripts, so there is now a thriving trade in remotely hosted
free resources which will do almost anything you can
imagine. There are thousands of them, most supported by
advertising of some kind.
If you have direct web access, it is very easy to find out
about these resources, to sign up, and to incorporate them
into your web pages
For email-only users, it is more difficult -- especially as
many of the signup pages use cookies. However, if you know
how to use the form fill-in capability of GetWeb or
WWW4Mail, you will find that nearly every kind of resource
is available to you.
For those who have not used GetWeb or WWW4Mail in this way,
the next part of this tutorial should convince you how
simple it is.
